The Gentlemen Hellhounds is a three-piece blues covers band, gigging in and around the Reading, UK, area. We've had great fun developing a dynamic set made up of music which we love.

The set includes vintage tunes by Fleetwood Mac, The Allman Brothers Band and Albert King: modern interpretations of songs by Robert Johnson, Otis Rush and Muddy Waters: contemporary blues tunes by Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor and Kenny Wayne Shepherd: rock classics by Thin Lizzy, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Eagles: plus ZZ Top, Jeff Healey, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Cream.

Delta Blues

A regional flavour of blues from the Mississippi Delta, played on acoustic guitar, sometimes with harmonica, and often showcasing slide guitar skills. "The idea of a hypnotic riff as the prime mover of a piece of music has been around for a long time, whether you're talking about the Delta blues or music from Middle Eastern and African cultures." - Jimmy Page

Chicago Blues

Like Delta blues, but with electric guitar, utilising its effects, such as distortion and overdrive. "Look at this old guitar here you been squeakin' on. I bet you saw this thing in a music store and bought it just because you thought it was beat up! Well you got it all wrong. Muddy Waters invented electricity!" - Crossroads, (movie, 1986)

Piedmont Blues

When blues went east, Piedmont blues developed. It's bouncy and syncopated; sort of ragtime on the guitar. "You got the south on steroids, when you got the music of the south, the culture of the south, the beauty of the south, through Brownie and Sonny,” - Taj Mahal
